Job Description
The Child Care Aide supports classroom teachers, therapists and other lead staff in providing a safe, structures, and engaging environment for children. The Aide assists with daily routines, helps implement educational and behavioral plans, and ensures every child receives the attention and care they need to thrive.
This position is ideal for compassionate, energetic individuals who are passionate about working with children, especially with chidren with special needs.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Support children during classroom activities, therapy sessions and play.
- Provide one-on-one or small group attention or support as needed
- Help with classroom preparation, setup and cleanup
- Support children with personal care tasks such as feeding, toileting and hygine in a respectful and supportive manner.
- Fostre a positive, inclusive and patient environment that promotes learning, emotional regulation and social development.
- Observe and document child behavior and progress and communicate effectively with the team and parents, as required.
- Follow all center safety protocols, health regulations, and confidentiality policies.
- Participate in and stay compliant with annual training and professional development requirements.
- Assist and participate in events hosted by the center.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 16 years old
- High School Diploma or GED, required
- Ability to follow directions and work together with a team, required
- Clear all background checks and meets all state childcare licensing requirments, required
- Previous experience working in a childcare or special education setting, preferred
- Coursework in Early Childhood Education, psychology, special education or another related field, preferred
- Familiarity with autsim spectrum disorder, applied behavior analysis or other developmental interventions, preferred
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Frequent bending, lifting and playing on the floor.
- Ability to remain active and engaged throughout the day.
- Ability to adequately supervise children at all times.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors.
- Ability to work in moderate to loud environments for extended periods of time.
Salary & Benefits
- Starting Salary Range: $16-$17 per Hour
