Mr. Austin Melcavage

Director of Child Care – Cisco Center since December 2020

Mr. Austin first joined the Cisco Center team as a camp counselor in training in 2012, before leaving to work for Anne Arundel County Public Schools. Immediately he discovered a passion for the special needs community. Since then, Mr. Austin has gained valuable hands-on experience in various fields of support for the special needs community. Some of those experiences include social & emotional development, positive behavior intervention, crisis/trauma informed care, ABA therapy & sensory integration/support. Mr. Austin worked for Anne Arundel County Public Schools for 6 years through multiple positions, Rise for Autism for 2 years, and as a lead teacher at the Cisco Center for 2 years.

While Mr. Austin is the current director of Child Care at the Cisco Center, he remains lead teacher certified and provides a hands-on approach by providing daily support & modeling in the classroom. Mr. Austin holds a strong value in instilling positive relationships between the staff and children at the Cisco Center, as well as following restorative practices when working with behaviors and reintegrating the child into the daily activities. He also promotes to all staff the benefits of learning through play in the natural environment.
